Azerbaijani ambassador to Italy, Mammad Ahmadzadeh met with the President of the Italian Senate Maria Elisabetta Casellati.
Expressing his gratitude for acceptance by the President of the Senate on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, Ahmadov informed about innovations brought by this Republic to the Muslim East and its role in the history of Azerbaijan.
The diplomat spoke about development path of Azerbaijan after
restoration of state independence, achievements of our country, Azerbaijan-Italy strategic partnership, high-level political dialogue existing between the two countries, inter-parliamentary relations, important economic cooperation, Southern Gas Corridor and contributions of Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the development of relations in the field of art.
President of the Italian Senate Maria Elisabetta, who congratulated on the occasion of 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic also expressed her deepest sympathy for the rich historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, and highly appreciated the achievements of our country on independence and development, contributions to European energy security, the role of strategic bridge between East and West.
Calling Azerbaijan a major partner for Italy, the President of the Senate expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the two countries and stressed the importance of
continuation of mutually beneficial exchanges and arrangement of joint events for further expansion of relations.
The sides also exchanged views on regional security issues, multicultural traditions of our country and perspectives of Azerbaijani-Italian cooperation.
