Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Health dismissed on Thursday reports suggesting that public hospitals in the country will be paid, noting that this issue is not on the agenda.   
 
The change in the status of public hospitals will not affect their activities, the ministry told APA.
 
Public hospitals and municipal hospitals will operate on the basis of the Charter (as they previously acted based on the Regulations) under the status of a legal entity, informed the health ministry.
 
According to the amendments, municipal hospitals will mainly provide paid services, said the ministry, clarifying that as the municipalities are the local authorities, it has no power to interfere their work. Up to now, public hospitals in Azerbaijan have been operating under the status of a non-profit legal entity.
