Iran Celebrates 39th Anniversary of Islamic Revolution

On Sunday, February 11, Iran celebrates the 39th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of 1979, when the monarchy was overthrown and the country was declared an Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI).

Iranian leaders urge citizens to take an active part in the rallies that the authorities are organizing throughout the country.

"The enthusiastic participation of people at the rallies will show that their ties with the government are profound and friendly and still correspond to the principles of the revolution," Iranian President Rouhani said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

Ayatollah Khamenei predicted that the participation of people in the February 11 rallies will be great and majestic, as the nation believes that the enemy is ambushed, referring to the anti-Iranian statement of the US authorities, the Iranian Mehr agency said.

On Saturday in Baku, the Iranian Embassy gave a reception in honor of the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

IRI Ambassador Javad Jahangirzadeh stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran acts as a regional factor of stability and takes serious and effective steps to prevent terrorism and radicalism.

The Ambassador noted the progressive development of friendly and fraternal relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, which are supported by the heads of the two states.

This year, unlike last years, the Iranian side showed interest in the participation of guests from Azerbaijan in the festive events in Tehran. The Iranian Embassy organized a visit to this country by a number of political and public figures and journalists, including the leader of the Azerbaijani Democratic Party Sardar Jalaloglu and the chairman of the Citizenship and Development Party (CDP) Ali Aliyev.

According to the press service of the CDP, during the visit, which will continue for several days, there will be meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, members of the Iranian parliament of Azerbaijani origin and representatives of political circles.
