An Armenian soldier was killed by Azerbaijani fire in the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh on Saturday, Novosti Armenii reported.
Aramais Voskanyan, 19, was mortally wounded at around 21:30 in an unidentified location east of Nagorno-Karabakh, the news website said, citing the region’s "defense army”.
Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said Armenians violated the cease-fire 110 times in the past 24 hours. The Azerbaijani army carried out 114 strikes on Armenian positions in retaliation, the ministry said Monday on its website.
Armenia captured nearly one-fifth of Azerbaijan’s internationally-recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent districts, in a war after the Soviet breakup in 1994.
While major hostilities ended with a cease-fire in 1994, no peace agreement has been signed.
