“The resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia is one of the top priorities of Iran’s foreign policy”.Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsin Pakayin said this to journalists at Tabriz office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, APA reports citing IRNA.According to him, it’s very important for Iran to ensure the region’s security: “Therefore, Tehran officials are trying to regulate the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as it covers some parts of the Iranian borders with Azerbaijan and Armenia. The confrontation between Baku and Yerevan is unfavorable for the two countries. And of course, Iran does not benefit from such a disputed situation, either”.The ambassador also mentioned Iran’s mediation in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at one time: “But what we’re seeing now is that both sides are trying to settle this issue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. The OSCE Minsk Group has made no efforts to settle the conflict, although it has been operating since 20 years ago. Nevertheless, the OSCE Minsk Group was established in order to reconcile boths sides of the conflict within a year. In fact, the OSCE Minsk Group’s other member countries outside the region are far less interested in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Because, globals subjects are more significant issues for them”. (News.Az)Bakudaily.az
