Facebook didn't spend $22 billion on WhatsApp for nothing.
The popular messaging service is getting close to one billion users and it appears more integration between Facebook and WhatsApp isn't far away.
With WhatsApp's next update available in Beta form, some users have found some new hidden features.
And one tech fan named Javier Santos, has discovered an option which allows WhatsApp to share your account information with the Facebook.
According to screenshots taken from the Beta version of the app, account information will be shared in order to "improve my Facebook experiences”.
WhatsApp has just announced that it is dropping the $1 yearly charge for the service and this update could be a way to help make the app pay for itself.
It's thought Facebook could use your WhatsApp details to help target adverts with more accuracy.
Although WhatsApp is adamant you won't get hit with messages from third parties, it has already confirmed it's going to allow business to communicate with users.
"Starting this year, we will test tools that allow you to use WhatsApp to communicate with businesses and organizations that you want to hear from." states WhatsApp.
Facebook already targets its users with adverts as they browse the network.
As well as sharing data with Facebook other new features that could be coming soon include an end-to-end encryption for secure messaging and a document sharing feature which will help users send and received files.
There's no official word on if, and when, these new features will go live on your smartphone but we'll keep you posted.
