Two people were killed and 18 others were injured on Monday in an airstrike on the Libyan city of Sirte, some 450 km east of the capital Tripoli, Trend reports citing Xinhua.
Foreign air force allied with the eastern-based army carried out the airstrike, said Taha Hadid, spokesman of Sirte Protection and Security Force.
Local media published footage of locations hit by the airstrike in Sirte with smoke rising from them.
The city of Sirte is controlled by the UN-backed government, which is currently engaged in a deadly armed conflict against the eastern-based army in and around Tripoli since early April.
Libya is plagued by political division and escalating violence ever since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011. Enditemwww.anews.az
