The presidents of Belarus and Azerbaijan will assist the development of political dialogue between the two countries, strengthening of a high level of trust, mutual understanding and multipronged cooperation, says the joint declaration Alexander Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev signed on 28 November, BelTA reported.
The two leaders stated in the joint declaration that "they will assist the development of a high level of the Belarusian-Azerbaijani relations based on the traditions of mutual respect and friendship between the peoples.”
The presidents stressed the importance of further development of the two countries in the international arena and stated they would promote the strengthening of cooperation and coordination of efforts to provide mutual support in the foreign policy, the declaration runs.
The two presidents confirmed similar positions on many issues of the international agenda. Alexander Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev are determined to "promote the intensification of the work of the governments of Belarus and Azerbaijan in the implementation of traditional cooperation and the search for new forms of economic collaboration in the promising areas, including mechanical engineering, transport, agriculture, communication, healthcare, education and science.” Apart from that the declaration states that "the parties will promote the expansion of ties and contacts between creative unions and associations, figures of culture, literature and art, youth organizations, preservation of the national identity of the two nations.”
