Aliyev says trade with Russia can grow further

President llham Aliyev said at a meeting with visiting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin that "mutual trade can be boosted and bilateral dialogue can have a broader range", Itar-Tass reported.

"There are new opportunities that need immediate reaction," Aliyev said, adding that many issues on the agenda of Monday's talks with Dmitry Rogozin had been constructively discussed with President Vladimir Putin in Sochi. "Under the current cirsumstances, it is possible to increase mutual trade and broaden bilateral dialogue," Aliyev said.

For his part, Dmitry Rogozin praised contacts with the Azerbaijani leadership "that have recently become more intensive, which is a good sign". "The delegation which is taking part in the talks involves high-ranking officials vested with responsibility for the intensification of bilateral relations," Rogozin said.

Rogozin said he was ready "to give a new life to the activity of the intergovernmental commission", which had not met for around three years. The meeting with President Aliyev was scheduled for a convenient time, shortly after the International Defense Industry Exhibition held in Baku, he said.

Taking into account the opinions expressed by the participants, the two countries may go ahead with the development of military-technical cooperation, Rogozin said.
