The European Union (EU) has suspended all high-level meetings with the Georgian leadership, said Pawel Herczynski, the EU Ambassador to Georgia.

Herczynski threatened Georgia with the suspension of the EU membership process.

The ambassador said that Georgia cannot become a member of the European Union if it turns into a one-party state, bans political opposition, forces civil society to flee abroad, and fails to protect the rights of minorities.

"The EU has also suspended all high-level meetings with the Georgian leadership because the ruling party of Georgia has an 'unfriendly attitude' towards the European Union," he said.
