Azerbaijan last month donated 500,000 manat in humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine, said Naser Abdul Karim, the Palestinian ambassador in Baku.

The aid came after Israel’s latest military campaign in Gaza, which killed over 2,000 people, mostly civilians, the ambassador said. 

Abdul Karim thanked the Azerbaijani government for its “principled” support of Palestine.

Azerbaijan last year donated $5 million to help fund infrastructure projects in Jerusalem (Al-Quds). 

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov this month hosted Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki in Baku. 

Mammadyarov reiterated Azerbaijan’s support for the Two-State solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
