Azerbaijan does not rule out the possibility of transiting gas from Iraq and Iran to Europe, Deputy Energy Minister Natiq Abbasov said on Monday at the maiden Eurasia conference "Energy Economics Emerging from the Caspian Region: Challenges and Opportunities."
"Azerbaijan is one of the initiators of the
Trans Anatolia Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) Azerbaijan is current examining the opportunities for
transit of Iranian gas through its territory to Europe with a connection to TANAP," Abbasov said.
Iran and Azerbaijan already possess the infrastructure that could be used to ship gas from Iran - and from Iraq too - through Azerbaijan on TANAP to Europe, he said, adding that Iraq and Iran have a connection that could be used to ship Iraqi gas through Iran for further transport through Azerbaijan.
