Azerbaijan exports 4% less oil via BTC pipeline in 2014

Azerbaijan exported 28.508 million tonnes of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in 2014, 4.1% less than in 2013, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) told Interfax.

In December alone, 2.463 million tonnes of Azerbaijani oil were transported through the BTC pipeline. Between the pipeline going into service on June 4, 2006, and January 1, 2015, a total of 263.65 million tonnes were transported.

The BTC pipeline also carried 644,134 tonnes of oil from Turkmenistan Kazakhstan in December.

In December, 2.675 million tonnes of Azerbaijani oil were shipped from the Ceyhan oil terminal and in 2014 as a whole, 29.127 million tonnes. Since the BTC pipeline went into service.

The BTC pipeline runs for 1,768 kilometers - 443 km through Azerbaijan, 249 km through Georgia, and 1,076 km through Turkey. Throughput capacity is more than 50 million tonnes a year.

Project participants are BP (30.1%), SOCAR (25%), Chevron (8.9%), Statoil (8.71%), TPAO (6.53%), ENI (5%), Itochu (3.4%), ConocoPhillips (2.5%), INPEX (2.5%), Total (5%) and ONGC (2.36%).
