Azerbaijan exported 28.863 million
tonnes of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in 2016, 0.1% more than in 2015, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) told Interfax.
Between the BTC pipeline going into service on June 4,
2006 and January 1 of this year, 321.538 million
tonnes of oil were shipped, including 2.386 million
tonnes in December.
The BTC pipeline also carried 441,271
tonnes of oil from Turkmenistan in December.
According to adjusted data, in 2016, a total of 28.641 million
tonnes of oil was shipped from the Ceyhan oil terminal, including 1.888 million
tonnes in December. Since the pipeline BTC pipeline went into service, 319.8 million
tonnes were shipped from the terminal.
The BTC pipeline runs for 1,768 kilometers - 443 km through Azerbaijan, 249 km through Georgia, and 1,076 km through Turkey. Throughput capacity is more than 50 million
tonnes a year.
