Azerbaijan increases gas export to Turkey almost 2% in Jan-April

Azerbaijan exported 2.259 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Turkey in the framework of stage one of the development of the Shah-Deniz field in January-April 2016, up 1.8% year-on-year, according to materials from Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

In April, Azerbaijan exported 546.18 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey. Azerbaijan's overall share of gas supplies to Turkey by trunk pipeline for the reporting period was 17.7%, while the rest came from Iran and Russia.

In 2015, Azerbaijani gas supplies to Turkey totaled 6.169 bcm, according to EMRA.

Shah Deniz project participants are BP (operator, 28.8%), Petronas (15.5%), State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) (16.7%), Lukoil (MOEX: LKOH) (10%), NICO (10%), TPAO (19%).

Currently gas production from the Shah Deniz field is carried out as part of stage one, an agreement on the sale of gas was concluded between Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The South Caucasus Pipeline, which is 690 kilometers long, was built for the export of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey, with 442 kilometers of it on the territory of Azerbaijan and 248 kilometers on that of Georgia.
