New ferries will be launched between the Baku international trade seaport in Alyat and Kuryk port under construction in Kazakhstan.
The due announcement was made by sources in the JSC Baku International Trade Seaport.
In line with the reports, the company chief, Taleh Ziyadov held a meeting with a delegation led by President of Kazakhstan Railways Askar Mamin which had visited the new Baku port.
During the meeting Ziyadov noted that cargo transshipment via the Baku International Trade Seaport has grown almost by one third, owing to the increase in cargo transportation in Baku-Aktau-Baku direction.
On his part, Mamin said that construction of the new Kurik airport in Kazakhstan will have a positive effect on the cargo transportation between the two countries.
"Both existing and new ferries will operate between Baku and Kuryk. In addition, a free trade zone will be created in Kuryk port just like in the Baku port," Mamin said.
Kuryk port is expected to serve up to five ferry boats daily which will ensure 4,000,000 tonnes of transshipped cargo yearly.
