On the same day that the settlement of Aghband was liberated, the Azerbaijani Army also freed the villages of Kollugishlag, Malatkeshin, Kand Zangilan, Genlik, Valigulubayli, Garadara, Chopadara, Tatar, Tiri, Amirkhanli, Gargulu, Bartaz, and Dallakli in the Zangilan district. Additionally, the villages of Mollavali, Yukhari Rafidinli, and Ashagi Rafidinli in the Fuzuli district, as well as Sirik, Shikhlar, Mastalibayli, and Darzili in the Jabrayil district were reclaimed.
Azerbaijan successfully liberated the occupied territories, including the entire length of the Azerbaijan-Iran border. The State Border Service of Azerbaijan quickly established the necessary security infrastructure and restored the operation of border checkpoints in the liberated areas.
The occupation of Aghband by Armenia began in 1993. The Aghband village, located on the banks of the Araz River at the foot of Mount Aghband, holds strategic importance due to its position along the border. The name of the village is derived from the mountain at whose base it is situated.
