Azerbaijan’s Milli Maclis, or parliament, is going to amend the law to ban “physical punishment” of children.Beating or using any form of violence against children will be punishable, according to amendments proposed to the criminal and administrative laws.Novella Cafaroglu, a human rights activist based in Baku, has hailed the bill.“You cannot educate a child by beating him or yelling at him,” Cafaroglu said in an interview with ANN.Az. “The bill will have a positive impact on the upbringing of children.”
