Azerbaijan-Pakistan youth club launched in Islamabad

Speaking at the inaugural session, the ambassadorof Azerbaijan, Dashgin Shikarov, said the club has been established to furtheraugment the existing cordial and mutually beneficial relationship between thetwo countries.

Addressing a gathering of parliamentarians‚ diplomats‚deans‚ faculty members and students of the university on the occasion‚ DashginShikarov said: "Azerbaijan-Pakistan are two souls in one body. Pakistanand Azerbaijan enjoys deep-rooted relations and our affability is based on thecommon objectives of love‚ peace‚ harmony and mutual understanding of eachother's problems".

The project‚ he maintained‚ has been initiatedwith the expressed intent of creating a bridge between Azerbaijan and Pakistan‚and bringing the two brotherly nations close to each other through dialogue andunderstanding.

This initiative‚ he further said‚ is intendedto work beyond diplomatic ties by creating and enhancing youth to youth contactas a first step. Elaborating on the structure of the Youth Forum‚ he said itcomprised of Youth Clubs in various Universities.

Selected universities from both countries aremembers of the referenced Forum. Azerbaijan is represented in the Forum by BakuState University‚ Qafqaz University‚ Baku Slavic University‚ Khazar Universityand The Academy of Public Administration‚ under the President of the Republicof Azerbaijan.

The universities that represent Pakistan inthis forum are Quaid-I-Azam University‚ Islamabad‚ Preston University‚Islamabad‚ University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)‚ University of Gujrat‚Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Rawalpindi.

Earlier‚ in his welcome address Dr. AbdulBasit‚ Chancellor Preston University at the outset extended a warm welcome tothe Ambassador of Azerbaijan‚ Dashgin Shikarov to the launching ceremony ofAzerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Forum at Preston University.

He said that the youth of Pakistan must availthis excellent opportunity and derive maximum benefit out of these clubs.

He gave assurance on the occasion to the AzeriAmbassador Mr. Dashgin Shikarov and President Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth ForumMr. Asif Noor that Preston University would facilitate its students to tap allprobable avenues to enhance people to people contacts between Azerbaijan andPakistan.
