The Azerbaijani ambassador to Indonesia, Tamerlan Karayev, on Wednesday told Indonesian Industry Minister Saleh Husin that the Caspian Sea country is planning to invest in Indonesia.
Azerbaijan is currently reviewing possible investments and will send the review to the Indonesian government.
"We would like to improve cooperation in trade and investment with Indonesia. Indonesia is an important trade partner,” Karayev told state-run news agency Antara.
Industry Ministry spokesman Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono said Azerbaijani investors were particularly interested in infrastructure and oil projects, citing the country’s pioneering role in the oil industry.
"The [Indonesian] government currently has a program to construct 14 industrial areas. We might offer them investment in that field,” Achmad said.
