"The hysteria raised by the Armenian military-political regime around the Armenian military helicopter downed over the occupied territories of Azerbaijan is due to the fact that the enemy is trying to attract international attention and calm its people down. At the same time, the Armenian side is steadily spreading misinformation, mixing up facts, and trying to find a justification for its actions," Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry said in a statement.
"Azerbaijani Defence Ministry once again states that the information disseminated by the Armenian media about the removal of the remains of the crew members and some parts of the helicopter, as well as a special operation held for this purpose by the Armenian side is a fiction and has no truth in it. This information is intended to divert the attention of the Armenian people," the ministry said.
Aviation experts confirm that the footage provided by the Armenian side is a professionally done video editing.
It is hard to imagine in what state the bodies of the deceased could have be handed over to their relatives. Due to the explosion of combat helicopter Mi-24 and its hitting the ground, the bodies of those on board should have come to such a state that they simply could not have been shown to the public.
It is impossible that the body of a pilot crashing inside an 11-tonne machine, hitting the ground at a speed of 250 km/h, was in a state as shown by the Armenian Ministry of Defence.
When human body burns, its different parts begin to deform. It is impossible that the dead body of the pilot is in a perfectly horizontal position, as seen in the video footage disseminated by the Armenian side. This may be confirmed by any pathologist.
Experts also doubt that the military uniform of the pilots presented at the video footage corresponds to the actual uniform that the crews of Mi-24 wear.
Aviation experts questioned the authenticity of almost perfectly preserved parachute. Helicopter after being hit by missile complex ‘Igla’ has been falling to the ground only 3-4 seconds and then exploded. The helicopter crew just physically could not eject during these few seconds. Therefore, the version of the ejecting of the Armenian pilots does not stand up to criticism. In addition, the parachutes are made of highly flammable nylon, and they could not survive in the form, in which they were shown on a propaganda video of the Armenian side.
All these facts lead to the conclusion that provided by the Armenian side video had nothing to do with the downed helicopter.
Information from expert in the field of military aviation:
- Combat helicopter Mi-24 is not equipped with ejection system;
- For the crew to be able to leave the faulty machine, helicopter crew is equipped with parachutes; the commander of the machine and the operator are provided with parachutes S-4 (C-4U), and mechanic wit parachute PN-58;
- The crew leaves the unmanageable machine under commander’s order in the following order: operator, mechanic and the last leaves the commander;
- Terms of evacuation of the helicopter are following: Operator – through an access hatch, mechanic through the cargo door on the left side of the machine, the crew commander – through an access hatch;
- If the altitude does not exceed 130 meters, the crew does not wear parachutes;
- When the flight speed is 202 km/h for the deployment of the parachute a height of at least 60 metres is required.
In this video you can see that after the shot there was a powerful explosion, and then the helicopter was falling down for only 3-4 seconds. For the pilot to recover from the shock after the hit and decide to eject, he needs at least 7-10 seconds of time.
Given all this, we can safely say that the statement of the Armenian side that featured corpse is the dead pilot, is nothing more than complete nonsense.
After all, it is necessary to take into account the following human factors as well:
- from the blast wave hit by a rocket pilot falls into shock;
- only after the shock passes, the pilot must make the decision to evacuate in extreme conditions, while observing all safety precautions.
Do not forget about the other important technical factors:
Warhead of portable air defence system (MANPADS) type ‘Igla’ weighs 1.5 kg and is packed with shrapnel. If we look closely at the video provided by the Armenian side, it can be concluded that the point of the explosion occurred directly over the head of the crew commander. In this case, the likelihood that the body of the crew members are not burned by the explosion is zero. Even if we assume that some of them were thrown from the helicopter blast, fire and the same blast wave would have resulted in their bodies being unrecognizably mutilated. It is impossible that the body of a pilot survived in the form in which it is presented to us by the Armenians.
