Azerbaijan has set the target of joining the list of 50 largest economies of the world within the next five to ten years, Finance Minister Samir Sarifov said on Dec. 23.While Azerbaijan was ranked 108th in 2003 for the size of its economy, it was the 69th economy of the world in 2012, Sarifov said at a conference organized by the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party (YAP). Azerbaijan’s gross domestic product has grown 3.4 times and the non-oil economy expanded 2.7 times in the past decade, the minister said. Per capita GDP is expected to double by 2020, he said.
