Azerbaijan, Turkey to hold large-scale war games

Azerbaijan and Turkey will conduct large-scale military drills on Sep. 13-20, the Ministry of Defense said.

The drills will involve about 30,000 troops, including 10,000 army reservists, 250 tanks and armored vehicles and 35 military aircraft, the ministry said.

The exercises will be held in mountainous and low-lying terrain. All branches of the military will take part.

These will be the largest joint drills ever held by the Azeri and Turkish armies.

Azerbaijan says it has every right to use military force to regain control of its internationally-recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh, that’s under Armenian occupation.

More than 20 troops were killed in clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces last month.
