Azerbaijani gymnast wins silver medal

Azerbaijani gymnast Marina Durunda won a silver medal in the all-around rhythmic gymnastics at Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics held March 5 in Baku.

Durunda scored 70.449 points on the results of all four types of program. Titled Russian gymnast Yana Kudryavtseva won the gold, having scored 76.115 points. Another representative of Azerbaijan Gulsum Shafizade, who scored 68.365 points, took the bronze, Trend reports. 

Azerbaijani team left behind the German team and won the gold medals with 26.880 points in group competitions in acrobatics among women. The German gymnasts scored 23.866 points and won the silver medals.

It should be noted that two countries were represented in this type of program at the championship.

The Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines is being held in Baku on March 4-6. This is the test championship on the eve of the First European Games.

Coming from 22 countries, 133 gymnasts will compete for medals in both the all-around and individual competitions.

Such well-known gymnasts, as two-time absolute world champion Yana Kudryavtseva (Russia, rhythmic gymnastics), Olympic silver medalist Filip Ude (Croatia), European champion Alexander Shatilov (Israel, both – sports gymnastics) and other athletes have arrived in the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku.

Azerbaijani gymnasts Oleg Stepko and Kristina Pravdina won gold medals in the all-around competition at the Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics in Baku following the first day of the competition. Azerbaijani gymnast Petr Pahnyuk took second place in the same type of competition
