Azerbaijani president: Throughout 44-day war, we never succumbed to provocations
"Any statesman, especially the one holding the position of the first person in the state, should leave his emotions outside his daily duties. Each person, of course, has emotions and, naturally, we show them in one way or another, but over the long years of work, probably, I have developed in myself the qualities that allow me to abstract from emotions,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an exclusive interview with National Defense magazine.

"Throughout the 44-day war, we never succumbed to provocations. Even when the enemy shelled Azerbaijani cities, killed our children and women, we didn’t respond in the same way, we didn’t bomb their cities. Although it was probably possible to understand the emotions that overwhelmed us. But we fought honestly, respected international humanitarian law and did not commit war crimes,” he noted.
