Azerbaijani serviceman Huseyn Akhundov, accused in a trumped-up case of the murder of a security guard at the Zangazur Copper-Molybdenum Plant and sentenced to 20 years in prison, has had his sentence toughened and replaced with life imprisonment, reported from Armenian media.

Armenia’s Criminal Court of Appeal upheld the complaint of the legal successors of the security guard of the enterprise, Hayrapet Meliksetyan.

On April 10, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced that servicemen of the Azerbaijani army Agshin Babirov (born 2004) and Huseyn Akhundov (born 2003) disappeared due to limited visibility in adverse weather conditions on the territory of the Shahbuz region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on the border with Armenia.
