Azerbaijan’s army started air-defense maneuvers today, the Defense Ministry said on its website.
The drills are part of a “combat readiness plan for 2014”, the ministry said.
During the maneuvers, the army’s air-defense units will be placed on high alert. They will carry out attacks against mock air targets, including ballistic rockets.
Azerbaijan has modern air-defense systems, including the Russian-made S-300’s, in its arsenal.
The weapons have repeatedly been displayed during military parades.
