Azerbaijan’s economic growth accelerated in the first four months of 2015 year on year as oil production increased.
Gross domestic product (GDP) rose 5.5 percent in January through April year on year compared with a 3.2 percent growth in the same period last year, according to the State Statistics Committee in Baku.
The non-oil economy expanded 6.8 percent versus 9 percent a year earlier.
Industrial production rose 3.7 percent compared with a 2 percent decline seen in the January-April period in 2014.
Azerbaijan pumped 14.2 million tons of crude oil in the first four months of 2015, up from 14.1 million tons. Marketable natural gas production grew to 6.8 billion cubic meters from 6.1 billion cubic meters.
Per capita income increased 4.4 percent versus 2.1 percent. Consumer prices rose 3.1 percent compared with 1.9 percent a year earlier.
