Azerbaijan's president believes that Armenia does its best to indefinitely drag on Karabakh talks

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that Armenia strives to indefinitely drag on the talks on the Karabakh settlement.

"Armenia desires to make the negotiations on Karabakh an endless process. It was more than once that Armenia undertook provocations at the very moment, when there was some progress observed in the talks," Aliyev said at an expanded government meeting on Saturday.

The Karabakh settlement is the main task for the country's leadership and the government of Azerbaijan. "As Azerbaijan grows stronger, including economically and politically, we will be getting closer to the settlement of the conflict," Aliyev said.

Azerbaijan has always believed in the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, he added.

"At the request of the OSCE Minsk Group, the meeting was held between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia in December 2015 and it led to no result. The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are trying to solve the conflict; they acknowledge that the status-quo must be changed. But Armenia does not want it," Aliyev said.
