A rig fire that broke out at SOCAR’s Guneshli oilfield on Friday, killing 30 workers, is still blazing as firefighters are struggling to control it, a company official said on Wednesday.
Search also continues for the bodies of 23 oil workers missing from the Guneshli accident and three people who fell into the sea at Oil Rocks in a storm a day earlier, Balamirza Agarahimov told reporters in Baku.
Helicopters from the state airline company Azal and the Ministry of Emergencies are involved in the search for the bodies, he said.
Efforts to put out the fire are being hampered by poor weather conditions, Agarahimov said.
