Azerbaijan’s economy expanded by 5.8 percent last year, faster than in 2012 when gross domestic product grew 2.2 percent, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov told a cabinet meeting on January 9.
Per capita GDP rose to $8,000, Sharifov said. Non-oil industries soared almost 10 percent.
Inflation was 2.4 percent.
In total, 28 billion manat ($35.7 billion) was invested in the economy. State capital investment also increased to a record high (7 billion manat), the minister said.
President Aliyev declared 2014 a Year of Industry.
