A 19-year-old man who yesterday attempted suicide in the town of Kurdamir, central Azerbaijan, for being rejected by his lover has died in hospital.

Azad Sixaliyev jumped off a 35-meter tower near the town’s railway station, sustaining serious bodily injuries, according to Lent.az news website.

Acts of suicide are on the rise in Azerbaijan. Nearly 30 people have taken their own lives this year alone.
