An Azerbaijani army vehicle hit a landmine on the border with Armenia, leaving the driver injured, APA said.
The Russian-made Ural truck was destroyed by the explosion in Sadarak district in the autonomous region of Naxcivan. The driver, Novruz Zeynalov, was hospitalized, the Baku-base news service said.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense confirmed the report to APA.
Azerbaijan is technically at war with Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Armenian forces captured nearly 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s internationally-recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts, in a war after the Soviet Union’s breakup in 1991.
Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994 but no peace agreement has been signed.
