A woman in Azerbaijan’s western Gadabay District was killed by her former husband on the day she planned to marry another man, police said.

Faxriyya Aslanova, 28, was attacked in a beauty salon where she was having a haircut in preparation for her wedding party.

The ex-husband, Elcin Qasimov, 33, was detained in neighboring Daskasan District where he was hiding after the murder.

Qasimov said he had attempted to reconcile with Aslanova several times but failed.

He broke into the beauty salon and knifed Aslanova in the neck. The woman died on the spot.

The former couple had an underage son.
