Azeris show highest interest in Turkish language exam

The Yunus Emre Institute has arranged the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS) in 38 countries simultaneously for those who want to study in Turkey or certify their Turkish language proficiency. Of the 400 people that signed up for the exam, the highest level of participation was from Azerbaijan with 233 people.

Ali Cura, the director of the Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Cultural Center Baku, said the TYS is an examination on an international scale that is arranged three times a year, and those who take the exam certify their Turkish language proficiency.

The certificate given to participants in accordance with the results is accepted in all universities in Turkey, Cura said, adding that the highest level of participation from Azerbaijan is related to close relations and cultural bonds between the two countries.

"Last year the number of participants was 110. I believe the level of participation will increase as a consequence of more recognition of our examination and closer relations between the two countries," he said.

One of the participants, Dilber İsmayılova, said she wants to continue her education in Turkey and be an instructor in one of the Turkish universities. Another participant, Günay Gasımova, also said that she took the exam because she wants to get a master's degree in Turkey, while Ahmet Memmedov said: "Studying in Turkey is my dream. I would like to make more progress for my dream by passing this exam."
