Baku 2015 Flame arrives in Azerbaijani capital

The Baku 2015 Flame has arrived in Baku after completing a journey of around 60 regions of the country and the legendary Oil Rocks in the Caspian Sea.

President Ilham Aliyev took the Flame at Sadko port in the Seaside National Park.

Aliyev, his wife Mehriban Aliyeva and family members had arrived at Sadko port by an electric car.

Arriving by a boat, the Flame was handed to President Aliyev by oilman Nahid Nuriyev.

President Aliyev handed the Flame to Fatma Sattarova, a veteran of WWII, marking the start of the torchbearers` relay.

The Flame traveled to the White City boulevard, and was then brought to the city center.

Mugham singer Arif Babayev passed the Flame to Azerbaijan`s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

Cheered by the crowd, Aliyeva passed the Torch to Isfar Sarabski, a renowned pianist and winner of Montreux International Jazz Festival.

Then Leyla Aliyeva, elder daughter of President Aliyev, took her turn. She passed the Flame on to 2014 Youth Olympics wrestling gold medallist, European champion Igbal Hajizade, who gave the Flame to Arzu Aliyeva, the president's younger daughter.

Wrestling world champion and European championships winner Haji Aliyev passed the Flame to Heydar Aliyev, son of President Aliyev.

The Flame was carried past Flag Square and Crystal Hall, and taken into the Maiden Tower, where it stayed overnight during its time in Baku. The final torchbearer was the vice-president of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, Olympic champion Namig Abdullayev.

The Flame completed a 16km relay around the city, carried by 100 torchbearers.
