Russia enjoyed a golden day in Artistic Gymnastics at the Baku 2015 European Games, winning the men’s and women’s team events.
The Russian female trio of Aliya Mustafina, Seda Tutkhalyan and Victoria Komova were untouchable, dominating the team final and individual qualifications.
They romped to a total of 116.897 to win gold, ahead of Germany on 110.397 and Netherlands on 110.099.
The team competition provides berths in the individual all-around finals on Thursday and the apparatus finals on Saturday.
Top qualifiers were Mustafina in the individual all-around, as well as on uneven bars and floor exercise, Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber on vault, and Tutkhalyan on balance beam.
Nikita Ignatyev starred as Russia’s men won team gold with 178.963 points, ahead of Ukraine on 177.429 and Azerbeijan on 174.195.
