Russia mulls hosting European Games after Netherlands withdraws

Russia says it is considering hosting a future edition of the European Games after the Netherlands withdrew as host of the 2019 event.
Citing concern over the cost of the games, the Dutch government pulled out Wednesday, two days before the opening ceremony of the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Russian Olympic Committee president Alexander Zhukov says "Russia could be a candidate for these games."
However, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said the Russian government was not yet considering a bid specifically for 2019.
