The US supports the admission of Sweden to NATO, President Joe Biden said while receiving Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at the White House.

"But we’re also prepared for the NATO Summit next week. And I want to reiterate: The United States fully, fully, fully supports Sweden’s membership in NATO,” Biden said.

Sweden and Finland applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance in May 2022, but Türkiye blocked the accession process, requiring them, in particular, to declare the PKK as a terrorist group and extradite those accused of terrorism or participation in the coup attempt in 2016.
