BP Chief Executive Officer Robert Dudley visited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku on December 17, state news agency Azartac reported.
Dudley and Aliyev praised cooperation between BP and Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR.
They "expressed satisfaction” with work that has been done at the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block of oilfields and the Shah Deniz natural gas deposit in Azerbaijan’s section of the Caspian Sea, Azartac said, without giving details.
BP and SOCAR have also been cooperating successfully on the South Gas Corridor project formally launched in Baku in September, the report said.
BP is the operator of both ACG and Shah Deniz projects. The company is expected to join the Trans-Anatolia natural gas pipeline (Tanap) by buying 12 percent equity in the project.
SOCAR currently leads Tanap with a 70 percent stake. Turkey’s state pipeline company BOTAS holds the remaining 30 percent.
