BP starts construction of SCPX pipeline in Azerbaijan

A BP-led consortium has construction of the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion (SCPX) at the end of June, the company said on Monday. 

Land acquisition has been completed for the initial 200km of right of  way in Azerbaijan, BP said.

Construction of two compressor stations and a pressure regulating an metering facility in Georgia is in progress.

The company said preparations for the start of mainline pipeline construction in Georgia is "well under way”.

SCPX is to link up with the Trans-Anatolia pipeline (Tanap) in Turkey.

The pipeline systems, which will also include the planned Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), will export Shah Deniz natural gas to Turkey and Europe.
