Bulgaria and Azerbaijan consider establishing a joint venture to build gas infrastructure connecting the two countries, Bulgarian media reported on Thursday, quoting the country’s energy minister.
Azerbaijan also considers investing in the expansion of Bulgaria’s underground gas storage facility Chiren, state-run Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) said, quoting Dragomir Stoynev.
Through its state oil company SOCAR, Azerbaijan may increase the gas supply to Bulgaria to up to 3 billion cubic metres, the radio station added. The increase would be effective as of 2019 when the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is expected to start operations, state-owned news agency BTA said on Thursday.
