AZAL to launch daily flights from Baku to Milan

Azerbaijan’s national airline AZAL will begin operating daily flights on the Baku–Milan–Baku route starting May 13, company president Samir Rzayev said during a meeting with Italy’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Luca Di Gianfrancesco.
Since April 1, the number of weekly flights has been increased to six.
During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of air transport and exploring new opportunities. They emphasized that increased flight frequency contributes to the development of economic, tourism, and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Italy.
Ambassador Di Gianfrancesco highlighted the importance of air connectivity ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games to be held in Italy.
In 2024, AZAL operated 252 flights on the Baku–Milan–Baku route, transporting 67,708 passengers. In the first quarter of 2025, the airline carried out 67 flights with 15,236 passengers.
