Baku clinic director shoots wife, criminal case launched

A man identified as Vasif Kerimov, director of the Mardakan branch of Referans Medical Center, shot his wife during a domestic dispute in Baku’s Yasamal district, Azerbaijani authorities said Tuesday.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place at midday. The woman, Fergana Kerimova, was hospitalized in critical condition. A hunting weapon was seized at the scene, and the suspect was detained.
Clinic representatives confirmed Kerimov’s position but said they were unaware of the incident.
A criminal case has been launched under Article 29, 120.1 of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code (attempted premeditated murder). The investigation is ongoing.
