The number of active oil and gas drilling rigs worldwide rose by 21 units (1.3%) in July compared to June, reaching a total of 1,621.

citing data from US oilfield services company Baker Hughes, the number of rigs decreased by 92 units, or 5.4%, year-on-year.

In the United States, the count dropped by 13 units to 541 rigs, while in Canada it grew by 34 to 167 rigs.

The number of rigs in Latin America remained unchanged at 143, while Europe saw an increase of four to 129. In Africa, the figure fell by one to 101, in the Middle East it dropped by five to 334, and in the Asia-Pacific region it rose by three to 207 rigs.
