Only licensed taxis allowed at Baku airport under new rules

Taxi drivers working with ride-hailing apps are no longer allowed to pick up passengers from Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, the head of the Azerbaijan Drivers Association, Elshad Eldarov, said on Tuesday.
He said each company has been allocated around 30 vehicles, with a separate category created in their apps for airport trips.
Airport spokesperson Narmin Khalilova said the measure aims to ensure “high-quality service” for passengers. She noted that unlicensed drivers had previously operated at the airport, leading to complaints and reputational risks.
“This is not a restriction, but a call for all operators to raise service levels and prioritize passenger satisfaction,” Khalilova added.
