WhatsApp develops new features to enhance child safety
Messaging platform WhatsApp is working on new features aimed at improving the online safety of underage users. The new tools will restrict communication with users not listed in a child’s contacts and provide parents with general insights into their child’s activity on the platform, without granting access to message content.
According to Oxu.Az, the update was reported by WABetaInfo.
The feature is currently under development, with WhatsApp testing automatic privacy setting updates in Brazil as part of efforts to strengthen protections for minors.
In the future, certain privacy settings are expected to change automatically. The “last seen” status will be switched from “everyone” to “contacts only,” while profile information and links to other social networks will be restricted for unknown users.
The changes are expected to be rolled out in upcoming updates.
