Schuerrle on Atleti radar: Spanish champions Atletico Madrid are weighing up an ambitious offer for Chelsea star Andre Schuerrle, according to a report in the Telegraph. Last year's La Liga winners are still in the market for new players after offloading Diego Costa and Filipe Luis to Chelsea and with Javier Manquillo on the verge of moving to Liverpool. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the Germany international, but Atleti hope to capitalise on the Blues' need to offload one of their foreign players to meet Premier League and Champions League home-grown quota rules.Paper Round's view: Given their sales this summer, Atleti are the current go-to club in terms of transfer rumours - it's obvious they need to fill holes in their squad and every man and his dog is being linked to them at the moment. But this seems to be a particularly out there rumour - there's no way Mourinho will allow Schuerrle to leave Stamford Bridge, especially after his star performances at the World Cup for Germany. His stock has never been higher, and there are plenty of other foreign players who Chelsea would prefer to get rid of before him. Still, you can't blame Atleti for trying, if that is indeed the case.
