"On December 15, the European Council must make a decision and Georgia’s candidate status will be officially signed,” he said.
According to him, after the positive decision of the European Commission, the Georgian government continued active meetings with EU member countries.
"After the commission adopted a positive conclusion, on the one hand, we are very actively continuing dynamic relations in the bilateral format - Georgia-EU, at the same time we are actively working in the capitals of EU member states to ensure that we have the support of strongly mobilized partners,” Darchiashvili emphasized.
Georgia will receive candidate status if this decision is supported by the leaders of all 27 EU countries. The decision will be made on December 14-15, 2023.
Currently, 10 countries are seeking to join the bloc: Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Türkiye.
