Army, air force and navy of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia will conduct joint exercises in each of these countries.The statement came from head of International Military Cooperation Department of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan Ramiz Najafov, News.az reports. According to him, the relevant agreement was reached at the August 18-19 meeting of defense ministers of the three countries in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan."Each country will send one division with their arms and ammunition to the trainings. There will be three division headed by the battalion headquarters. And in this headquarters staff officers from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia will be represented in an equal number", he said.According to a senior official of the Ministry of Defense, in accordance with the agreement of the Ministers of the three countries, the protection of oil and gas projects will be carried out jointly. In this regard, separate exercises will be held. He stressed that any action constituting a threat to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian army will receive an immediate appropriate response."If there is any problem these countries will just need to signal to each other and whatever problem happens, the soldiers of the three countries will ensure the joint protection of the endangered area", Najafov said.According to him, it was also agreed that the three countries will participate together as partners in peacekeeping activities and exercises of NATO armies.The next meeting of the defense ministers of the three countries will be held in Georgia.
